Creative Schools

Sophia has been working in schools since 2007. She is a qualified teacher and has worked as an Art specialist teacher and Teacher librarian. She currently offers meet the Author/ Illustrator visits and longer artist residencies. She can facilitate creative workshops for staff and students in illustration, publishing and land art. Recently, she has been the lucky recipient of multiple CITS (formally DLGSC) funding grants for Creative Schools. She is a talented teacher, presenter, coordinator, artist, publisher and designer. Armadale Primary School

PAST

In 2024 Sophia worked with 60 Grade 4 students and their teachers to create and publish Wild WA:An Alphabet Anthology , Through the students’ illustrations, poetry and research the book showcases the unique biodiversity that Western Australia has to offer and highlights the urgent need to conserve it. Students and staff worked with Sophia over two terms learning illustration and writing skills, conservation and the design and publication process.

Current

Gwynne Park ESC

Sophia is currently working for two terms with 22 students and staff from Gwynne Park ESC on book showcasing the work of the school and disability in Education. The book School Through Our Eyes is due to be published in October 2025.

Westfield Park Primary School

In 2026 Sophia will be working with Westfield Park Primary School for two terms publishing an Environmental Children’s book based on Wetland Conservation.
